Collection consists of transcripts and printed materials relating to labor disputes, mainly in Southern California, in which UCLA Professor Abbott Kaplan acted as arbitrator. Industrial disputes (listed alphabetically in the finding aid) include Douglas Aircraft and the IAMAW, California Electric power and IBEW, the Ferro corporation and the Allied appliance workers, and Union Steel Co and the U.S.W.

Roessler was professor of mathematics at the University of California Davis. His work for University Extension begain in 1961, and in 1964 he became Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; he was eventually named University Dean of University Extension, a post which he held until his retirement in 1970.
